Damian Lillard finishes crazy scoop shot against Clippers (Video)

Damian Lillard couldn’t deliver a win for the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night, but he did finish this insane scoop shot through the lane.

After an enjoyable 2015-16 campaign that featured 44 wins, the fifth seed in the Western Conference and a second-round playoff appearance, the Portland Trail Blazers have come crashing back down to earth.

Though they’re still clinging to eighth place in the West early on in 2016-17, they’re two games below .500 at 12-14, they’ve lost four straight games and their defense ranks 28th in the association.

After spending all summer investing heavy chunks of change in a young core plus Evan Turner, who boasts the second-worst overall plus/minus in the entire NBA at -107, Rip City is learning that they call them “growing pains” for a reason.

Luckily though, Blazers fans still have Damian Lillard to enjoy. He hasn’t been able to carry this young team the same way he did last year, but Dame is still averaging 27.7 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game, and he’s always good for at least one highlight play every night.

Monday night was no exception, with Lillard trying to take over in the fourth quarter of Portland’s road matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers. Lob City emerged with the one-point victory in a game whose final minutes took about half an hour, but Lillard supplied an incredible scoop shot that a mere mortal would never have finished:

That kind of ball control is nowhere near as easy as Dame made it look, especially since it looks like Blake Griffin got a hand on the ball and dislodged it from Lillard’s hand. That’s George Gervin-esque, people.

The Clippers got the win, sending Portland to its fourth straight loss. Lillard finished the game with 24 points on 7-of-17 shooting, chipping in eight assists and five rebounds as well.
