Commissioner: Charlotte has 'great chance' to host All-Star Game
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says he expects Charlotte will host the league's All-Star game at some point in the future.
Silver met with Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan on Wednesday and said before the team's game against the Phoenix Suns that, ''Charlotte has a great chance of getting an All-Star game -- at this point the question is just when.''
The Hornets and the Charlotte Sports Foundation submitted a bid in August to host an All-Star Game.
Charlotte's downtown arena still needs to undergo about $40 million in renovations before that can happen.
The first available year to host the All-Star game is 2017.
Silver says, ''Personally, I'm very excited about the opportunity to come back here.''
The city first hosted the game in 1991 at the Charlotte Coliseum.
