Cleveland Cavaliers Championship Ring Has Special Meaning

Richard Jefferson leaked the Cleveland Cavaliers championship rings. Upon further review, the rings have a special inscription on them.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will officially debut their NBA Championship rings when they open against the New York Knicks on Oct. 25th.

Leave it to Richard Jefferson to go out and spoil the party (did he really though?) by leaking what the rings look like on SnapChat. Everyone gets a solid look at what the rings are going to look like, thanks to Jefferson.

The face of the championship ring features the logo and Larry O’Brien trophy with the words “World Champions” across the top and bottom. The ring features a player’s name and number, including every player’s number in gold.

My favorite part of the ring is the skyline of the city of Cleveland. Looking even closer at that sideview (left) of the ring, underneath the bridge their is “LII”, which stands for “52” in roman numerals.

No, it doesn’t stand as a tribute to Mo Williams, who may or may not be retiring. The Cavs are paying homage to Cleveland’s 52-year drought without a major sports championship.

Pretty cool, eh?
