Celtics readying to do summer league in Las Vegas this year

23 teams already participate in Las Vegas Summer League. It turns out the Celtics will be team No. 24.

It turns out Boston has already announced part of the team that will be in Sin City when LVSL begins July 10. From CLNS Radio:

"The Boston Celtics will send Marcus Smart, James Young and Colton Iverson to Las Vegas to participate on the team. Phil Pressey could be added tot he roster if the team decides to pick up their option on him for next season. Kelly Olynyk will not join them, as he will be playing on the Canadian National team and GM Danny Ainge stated he didn’t want anyone playing too much basketball this summer. The Celtics have a lot of draft picks in June’s selection, so expect them to join this team as well."

Teams mostly send their youngest players to summer league, played at UNLV's basketball facilities, along with other fringe NBA performers. First, second and third-year players are the ones who make it out there, trying to show off that they either deserve an NBA contract or that they deserve more playing time.

Boston's LVSL team will play during the preliminary round until July 14, with tournament games extending until July 19.
