Buzz City Beat: Charlotte Hornets Targeted Plumlee for a While, Sessions Knee Injury

Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s daily update of the best articles from around the internet about the Charlotte Hornets.

After two days rest, the Charlotte Hornets will take on the Utah Jazz as they close out their three-game road trip out west. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at the team having interest in Miles Plumlee for some time, Ramon Sessions‘ serious knee injury, and Kemba Walker being the first New York City point guard to make the All-Star Game since 2003.

Plumlee Had Advanced Warning of Hornets’ Interest

“Miles Plumlee had a clue he was headed back to the state where he played high school and college basketball. “I knew that there had been some talks for a week or two, but I had no idea that it was actually going to happen this soon,” Plumlee said Friday of the trade that sent him from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Charlotte Hornets.” (CharlotteObserver.com)

It was originally reported that Charlotte had been eyeing Plumlee but hearing it from Miles makes it clear. As we’ve seen in the past, Rich Cho usually gets his guy whether is be Plumlee, Nicolas Batum, or Marco Belinelli. The interesting part about this article is Steve Clifford’s comments on not only Miles but on Roy Hibbert as well. He said that Roy just couldn’t stay healthy for the Hornets.

    Sessions Suffers Torn Meniscus

“The Charlotte Hornets announced today that guard Ramon Sessions has been diagnosed with a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. Further updates on Sessions’ status will be provided when available.” (NBA.com)

Depending on the seriousness of the tear, the Hornets’ backup point guard will likely be out for about six to eight weeks. It is a devastating blow to a team that has already had their fair share of injury issues this season. Now it will be up to Brian Roberts and newly signed Ray McCallum to backup Kemba Walker.

Kemba – First NYC Point Guard to Make All-Star Game Since ’03

“His recent net tickling gives him goose pimples. It also provides evidence of his evolution, from a New York blur to a nuanced All-Star. “I used to be all layups,” he says. “Even to this day, some shots that I make, in my head, I’m still pretty surprised. I definitely get amazed.” (NYDailyNews.com)

This extended article follows Walker through a multitude of topics from his play to the protests in Charlotte last year. The Bronx native is staying true to his roots and there are a lot of interesting quotes from teammates and opposing players in this piece. He also talked about his childhood and growing up in New York.
