Bulls Announce Michael Carter-Williams Has Bone Chip in Wrist

Before Friday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Chicago Bulls announced that Michael Carter-Williams will miss more time with a bone chip in his left wrist.

Michael Carter-Williams hasn’t played in a game for the Chicago Bulls since Halloween night when he took a hard tumble during a blowout win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Carter-Williams has been rehabbing a sprained knee as a result of the fall, plus a wrist issue.

According to the Bulls, the wrist issue is going to keep the former Rookie of the Year winner out a little longer.

This coming Monday will mark the four-week mark since Carter-Williams last played for the Bulls, and two more weeks on the shelf would put him at a return on Dec. 12.

The Bulls don’t play on that day, but they do wrap up a three-game homestand against Tom Thibodeau and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 13.

If that’s the target date (Dec. 13) for MCW’s return, he would miss the next eight games for the 9-6 Bulls, including the Bulls’ first game against the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 2 at the United Center.

Before the injuries suffered in the Nets game, Carter-Williams was looking like a solid addition as the backup point guard for the Bulls in the early portion of the year. He was acquired in the deal that sent out the infamous plus-minus king known as Tony Snell to the Milwaukee Bucks, and appeared to seize the role as the backup behind Rajon Rondo.

What does this mean for the Bulls?

It means that Jerian Grant will stay on the main roster as one of the point guards on the roster (instead of playing in Hoffman Estates with the Windy City Bulls), and hope that Grant can continue to progress and provide a two-way presence that Carter-Williams was on his way to being after arriving from Milwaukee.
