Among the relevant notes, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Nets’ backup guard Greivis Vasquez insisted he will be ready for the season opener. The Nets open the season on October 26 against the Boston Celtics. It would behoove the Nets to have Vasquez’s veteran presence in the rotation, especially to run with the second unit. However, Vasquez has been recovering from an ankle injury. It would be quite the feat if Vasquez is able to go by opening night, but if he’s not fully healthy, the Nets should not rush him.

Also on the injury front, per Lewis, Brooklyn’s first round pick Caris LeVert does not have an exact date for when he will be able to practice. LeVert is recovering from a foot injury suffered while at the University of Michigan. While there isn’t a set date for LeVert to practice, he told the media, “we’re close.”
On the topic of social issues, Jeremy Lin was asked about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been actively protesting the National Anthem in support of social injustices. Regarding the topic, Lin said he would consider taking action, but he would want the Nets to do it as a team. It remains to be seen if the Nets — as a team, or individually — will stage any protests. Currently, NBA rules state that players must stand for the anthem, but the NBA is actively discussing the subject.
As expected, Lin was the star of the show at media day, garnering mass amounts of attention. The Nets’ official twitter account also posted videos of Brook Lopez and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, as well as retweeting pictures of Chris McCullough, Sean Kilpatrick, and Isaiah Whitehead.
Media day is a great chance for Nets fans to get a glimpse at the 2016-17 team prior to the season tipping off. Preseason games are just two weeks away, and the regular season begins in a month.
The NBA offseason always seems to drag on, but the season is rapidly approaching. NBA Media Day is always a reminder that the tip off of the season is right around the corner.
