Breaking down Brad Stevens' Twitter account

Do you ever wonder why Celtics coach Brad Stevens is so inactive on Twitter? Save for a single Butler basketball-related tweet from during the NCAA Tournament, Stevens hasn't fired off a 140-character quip since September of 2013.

Well, you don't need to wonder anymore. Because now we know, courtesy of the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett:

"We thought his Twitter reticence might be tied to the fact that among the responses he received were some asking him to come back and coach Indiana University. Sometimes you just don’t want to invite that kind of speculation, particularly when it can be taken as a barb at someone who’s trying to do a job (in the case of the Hoosiers, Tom Crean).

"But Stevens doesn’t give the process that much thought. In fact, he’s rather calm and maybe even a little fatalistic about his future with the Celtics. The club is clearly overjoyed with his performance and happy he has four more years left on his contract, but Stevens is assuming nothing."

Stevens just finished his second year as coach of the Celtics, leading the team to a 40-42 season. They were swept out of the first round by the Cavaliers. Maybe with some increased success in the coming years, we'll get to see a few more celebratory tweets from the Boston coach.
