Bogut takes shot at Mark Jackson over MVP comments
By Gordon Dixon
This year’s NBA MVP race has been a hotly debated topic with the season rapidly drawing to a close. Stephen Curry and James Harden are the top choices on most people’s list with the difference between the two razor thin.
During a recent interview, ESPN analyst and former Warriors head coach, Mark Jackson indicated he would vote for Harden if he had to choose, which isn’t at all unreasonable. The Rockets are currently the second seed in the Western Conference and it’s largely due to the production of Harden, who has carried the team with players in and out of the lineup due to injuries, most notably Dwight Howard, who has played in 36 of a possible 76 games this season.
That, of course, leaves out Curry, who Jackson coached for three years. While Jackson didn’t say anything disparaging towards Curry, the idea he wouldn’t tout his former player for league MVP was bound to not go over well with some. Included in that group is Warriors center Andrew Bogut, who didn’t pass up an opportunity to take a shot at Jackson over his comments.
"Well it was April Fool's Day," Bogut reportedly said about Jackson endorsing Harden for MVP, per a tweet from ESPN's Ethan Strauss.
When Bogut discussed Curry's MVP prospects, he again took a shot at Jackson.
"Well what's his name said no. What's that guy's name? Mark? I don't remember his name," per another tweet from Strauss.
Andrew Bogut has made it known he doesn’t have much of a relationship with Mark Jackson at this point so it can’t be too surprising to see him take a jab if the situation presented itself. And, it did. And, Bogut did.
