Blake Griffin issues apology for 'distraction' that fractured hand

Los Angeles Clippers All-Star power forward Blake Griffin took to Twitter to apologize for the "distraction" that resulted in him reportedly punching a Clippers equipment staffer and is expected to sideline him for another four to six weeks:

The resolution that Griffin alludes to is the most interesting part of the aftermath of the altercation. The NBA and the Clippers are further investigating the incident, and Griffin will likely be disciplined in some fashion. He will almost certainly be fined, and could even be suspended. 

It's unclear whether the league or the Clippers would mandate a punishment. 

If suspended, the suspension wouldn't kick in until Griffin is cleared to return to action -- suspensions don't apply while a player is injured and already forced to miss court time.

Though Griffin is projected to miss approximately four to six weeks according to the Clippers' statement from earlier today, head coach Doc Rivers labeled such a quick return from a serious hand injury as "unrealistic" in his comments to the media before the Clippers' 91-89 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
