Blake Griffin and CP3's injuries forced the Clippers to address the 'Clippers curse'

In the long line of no-good, bad-awful things that have befallen the Los Angeles Clippers franchise since 1970, losing Blake Griffin and Chris Paul in the span of one night—in the middle of a playoff push, no less—is up there.

It might not be the worst sequence of events in Clippers history (it is), but it's enough to have even the team's most level-headed members shaking their heads in disbelief at the sheer metric tonnage of garbage luck they've had in recent years.

And from this rich soil of despair, an old plant regrew: the Clippers curse, which the team was forced to address on Tuesday in light of recent events.

ESPN's Arash Markazi noted the responses when members of the team were asked if they lent any credence to the notion that the Clippers might be, in fact, the the target of some cruel cosmic prank.

None of them said they believed in the curse, but the fact that they didn't disregard the question in its entirety is all you need to know about how hard the Clippers are taking this latest setback.

Yeah. Not the greatest sense of hope is floating about the Clippers, who slid to a 2-2 stalemate with the Trail Blazers on Monday night after roaring out to a 2-0 start in the series.

Now, all Doc Rivers can do is plug the leaks with Mbah a Moute and try to bail water. Per ESPN.com News Services:

Sometimes all you can do buy rabbit feet and hope tomorrow's a better day. Or that Austin Rivers somehow goes 18-for-25.
