Barkley: I could take Obama one on one

Perhaps hoping for an invitation to a one-on-one showdown at the White House, outspoken ex-NBA star Charles Barkley told Conan O'Brien Tuesday night that he could kick President Obama's ass in basketball.

Appearing on TBS' "Conan," the NBA Hall of Famer was asked about Obama's skills in light of the split lip that the president suffered last week during a pickup game, which required 12 stitches.

"I'm an old fat guy, but I'd kick his ass," the current TNT basketball analyst said, after describing the president and himself as "friends."

Barkley, who was called the "Round Mound of Rebound" during his playing days, said the lefty leader of the free world is a "one-handed" player and will never drive to the basket with his right hand.

The 47-year-old Barkley said Obama has been "too busy" to play basketball with him since taking office.

Barkley was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006 after playing from 1984 to 2000 with the 76ers, Suns and Rockets. He made the All-Star team 11 times, averaging 22 points and 12 rebounds in his career.
