Andrea Bargnani, Markel Brown, Willie Reed OUT for Nets' preseason opener

The Nets are starting out the preseason on a cautious note. 

Brooklyn begins its exhibition season Monday night against Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, Bojan Bogdanovic's former team which is traveling in from Turkey. But the Nets will be missing two players who stand a chance to crack Lionel Hollins' rotation this year. Here's more from Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game:

McCullough is, of course, out for the year (probably) with a torn ACL that he suffered while playing at Syracuse last year. His absence isn't a big deal. The rest of those players could lose something by missing more preseason games, though.

Brown started the Nets' final 29 games of last season after working his way into the forefront of Hollins' defensive brain tissue. In all likelihood, he won't start again this year, but he does have a good chance to earn minutes off the bench because of his defense, athleticism and work in transition. 

Bargnani has a chance to play, too. Hollins has even said he could see the former Knicks big man work well next to Brook Lopez in a sort of inside-outside combination between the two of them. If Brown and Bargnani miss parts of preseason while others step it up, they could eventually lose out on the opportunity to play more minutes.

Reed, meanwhile, is on a partially guaranteed deal. Only $500,000 of his contract for the upcoming season is upfront, and if he misses a decent chunk of preseason time, there's always a chance it could cost him a roster spot.
