A piece of the STAPLES Center floor used during Kobe's final game sells for $179,100

Today in "You've gotta be kidding me": We learned via ESPN's Darren Rovell that an individual purchased a piece of the customized STAPLES Center floor used during Kobe's final home game as a Los Angeles Laker for ... brace yourselves ...

$179,100!!!!

Per Rovell:

If you think about in retrospect, paintings that look like someone lathered themselves in an array of colors, frog-splashed onto a blank canvas and then squirmed around for five straight minutes sell for millions all the time so maybe this isn't as ludicrous as it sounds.

Just to give you an idea of what you could have bought with this amount of money instead of the Kobe Bryant-autogrpahed floor:

This 2014 Continental GT two-door Bentley:

This gorgeous, roomy 3-bedroom 3-bathroom Tampa Bay, Florida, house with a pool AND gym already installed.

Or 276 season tickets to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hate 'em or love 'em, the Lakers are religion to a significant amount of basketball fans -- and these die-hard loyalists will pay just about anything to obtain a piece of their team's holy grail.
