The Dallas Mavericks made a good amount of acquisitions this off season. Some guys get brought to teams and don’t really work out, but it seems as if Dallas brought in a good amount of new faces that will contribute to the team.

Normally a team will make a draft pick and one or two free agent signings to contribute to their team in the upcoming year. Dallas did that, and them some. There should be multiple guys that will contribute to this team this season.

Along with rookies coming along from the NBA draft or summer league tryouts, Dallas also signed a handful of free agents to come in and make an impact.

With 4 days remaining until the beginning of the season, I will discuss 4 guys that are new faces to the Dallas organization and are bound to contribute.

Quincy Acy

Quincy Acy was one of the more under the radar signings for the Mavericks this season. He is one of the guys that will unexpectedly contribute to this team, as he’ll see minutes behind Dwight Powell and Dirk Nowtizki at the Power Forward/Center position.

Acy came over from the Kings with Seth Curry, and they seem to be pretty good friends. That’s already good for the chemistry of two bench guys.

He is also a very high tempo player. It seems like his motor goes a long way. Acy’s way to contribute to this team will be in ways that don’t necessarily show up in the stat sheet, but will be great for the team.

Seth Curry

Seth Curry is probably the most anticipated new arrival on this team. No one knows what to expect, maybe even including people within the organization.

The younger brother to two time MVP Stephen Curry, Seth has shown some potential. Just his brother alone makes him intriguing. But, he has shown flashes himself.

Curry didn’t get a ton of minutes in Sacramento last year until the end of the season. In his time, he played very well, which is probably what caught the Maverick’s eye.

Mavs fans certainly hope Curry can provide scoring off the bench, and contribute as a backup guard.

Between JJ Barea, Devin Harris, and Deron Williams, there should definitely be some minutes available for a young promising guard. Get excited about this guy.

Andrew Bogut

Andrew Bogut was probably the last person people expected for Dallas to land this summer. He wasn’t even a free agent. He got traded to the Mavericks after Kevin Durant went to Golden State.

Durant going to Golden State blessed the Mavericks with 2 starters from the team that made the NBA Finals the past 2 years. Andrew Bogut was one of them.

Bogut is the best center Dallas has had since Tyson Chandler, and there is reason to be excited. Dirk Nowitzki, for how great he is, lacks the defense. Andrew Bogut does not.

It will be a huge upgrade for a rim protector and should make the Dallas Mavericks a lot better on defense. This is something they really need with their lack of scoring ability.

Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes may not be who Mavericks fans expected to get a maximum deal. But, he was. This is the guy. The question is, how will he work out?

Many people look back on Barnes for his awful play in the NBA Finals. That is the worst way to look at him, as everyone has a bad stretch of games.

Mavericks fans, Mavericks coaches, and everyone in the organization wants Barnes to not only contribute, but to be a main guy on this team.

The question is whether Harrison Barnes will be able to put up points or not. It’s really up in the air whether he will be able to score enough to be the team leader on offense, but we’ll find out very soon.

More from The Smoking Cuban

The amount Barnes got paid is laughable to many people, but some remain optimistic that he will contribute enough to be worth it.
