Klay Thompson scorched the Indiana Pacers with 60 points and the Golden State Warriors might be unstoppable.

In what was supposed to be just your normal Monday night game against the Indiana Pacers, Klay Thompson set the basketball world on fire. Thompson would have 40 points in the first half and he would finish with 60 points by the end of the third quarter.

He would be pulled early from the game and the Warriors scored 142 points in regulation. The offensive pace the Warriors are currently on is a sight to behold and it just feels like they’re miles above the rest of the league. With a big win in the books, here are some hot takes after the win.

3. Klay Thompson is the best shooting guard in the league

There’s no debate about who the best shooting guard in the league is. In every sense of the term Klay Thompson is a shooting guard. He can be streaky at times and he can be flat out dominant at others.

However, Thompson is a special breed and has the ability to be legendary with his scoring ability. He already holds the record for points in a quarter and he could have set some real records had he not been taken out of the game early on Monday night.

2. This is the best team in the Stephen Curry era

While they may not finish with 73 wins this season, this is easily the best team in the Stephen Curry era. Adding Kevin Durant to a core that was already the holder of multiple records is just ludicrous and it’s raised the talent level of everyone on the floor.

The offensive tear the Warriors are on is besting anything than they have ever done before. The team is currently averaging 120.2 points per game and that number could continue to rise with the way they’re playing.

Outside of one double overtime game against Houston, the Warriors are putting up all these ridiculous numbers in regulation. To put up those types of performances requires efficient shooting and the Warriors are having that.

Scoring anything less than 120 would be considered an off night for this team. It takes a real defensive effort to slow this offense down and holding them less to their average would be considered a win for most teams.

1. Steve Kerr should have let Thompson go for 100

Good sportsmanship aside, Steve Kerr should have let Klay Thompson go for 100 points or at least try to against the Indiana Pacers. Ever since Kerr has come to town, the Warriors have been all about setting records and doing ridiculous things on the basketball court.

Getting Thompson rest and allowing him to sit for the fourth quarter was nice, but opportunities like this one are rare and they should have seen what he could have ended up doing if he played the rest of the third and the fourth quarter.

It would have been hard for him to get 40 more points to match Wilt Chamberlain, but there was a real possibility he might have been able to hit the 81-point mark that Kobe Bryant once set against the Toronto Raptors.

This team has been all about the arrogant pursuit of records and it’s part of what makes them so great. Unless Thompson wanted to come out, it would have been nice to see him try and chase a little history.
