Wife of the late Steve Byrnes honors his memory on Twitter
Karen Goins-Byrnes, the wife of late FOX Sports television personality Steve Byrnes, commemorated what would have been their 24th wedding anniversary on Twitter.
Steve Byrnes passed away in April of 2015 at age 56 after a long battle with cancer.
Steve enjoyed a successful and highly respected television broadcasting career for 30 years.
He joined the FOX Sports family in 2001, hosting and reporting for multiple NASCAR programs and serving as a pit road reporter for NASCAR on FOX's broadcast of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races from 2001-2014. He also was the play-by-play announcer for FOX Sports 1 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and was co-host of NASCAR Race Hub for the network.
More importantly, Byrnes had a big heart and gave many aspiring young broadcasters and reporters valuable assists in getting started in the journalism business. He was beloved by virtually everyone he came in contact with in the NASCAR and FOX Sports communities.
The FOX Sports office in Charlotte, North Carolina, named one of its television studios in honor of Byrnes shortly after his death.
We join his wife in remembering Steve on this day.
