Todt wants F1 to re-examine Bahrain decision
FIA President Jean Todt has asked Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone to re-examine the decision to restore the Bahrain Grand Prix to the calendar after receiving objections from teams.
In an open letter sent to the Formula One Teams Association on Thursday, Todt says the calendar could be revised again after the Bahrain race was restored for Oct. 30 despite ongoing anti-government protests in the Gulf kingdom.
Todt's letter confirms that the F1 teams are opposed to the race being staged because of logistical and insurance reasons.
He says Ecclestone's company, which holds the commercial rights for F1, had suggested the change to the calendar. Todt says he hopes ''a solution satisfactory for everybody can be promptly reached.''
