Teams taking part in Goodyear Racing tire test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

On-track action will continue for four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams after Sunday's race at Richmond International Raceway on Monday and Tuesday as they take part in a Goodyear Racing tire test at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Among those participating in the two-day tire test are 2014 Brickyard 400 winner and Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon, Richard Petty Motorsports' Sam Hornish Jr., Furniture Row Racing's Martin Truex Jr. and BK Racing's J.J. Yeley.

Yeley and Hornish took to Twitter to share a few early pictures from the test.

Goodyear's director of racing Greg Stucker said this week's test at IMS will focus on finding the right tire for the new 2015 rules package.

"The ground track surface at Indy makes it very sensitive to tire set-up," Stucker said. "The focus of the Indy test will be to make sure we have the correct tire combination to match the new characteristics of the low downforce, low horsepower 2015 rules package. The surface of the track is very abrasive, so getting the correct compounds and constructions to generate the desired wear characteristics, while maintaining the level of grip for competitive racing, is critical."

After the two-day Goodyear tire test, the track will hold an open test for team. Joining Gordon, Hornish, Truex and Yeley will be defending series champion Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson, Casey Mears, Paul Menard and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The public will be able to attend Wednesday's open test session, with viewing areas at the south terrace grandstands and Turn 2 viewing mounds.

Additional Goodyear tire tests will include Iowa Speedway on May 5 for the XFINITY Series cars only, Dover International Raceway on May 11-12 and Darlington Raceway on June 9-10.
