TBT: Fast and furious at Watkins Glen 2012

Why do we love NASCAR road racing so much? Because in a very real sense, it harkens back to the early days of short-track racing. It's epic, it's insane, it's great fun.

Sure drivers turn right as well as left on road courses, but road races remind us of the short-track fights where drivers were aggressive, on the ragged edge and not afraid to use their bumpers to move someone out of the way to win.

This week, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads back to Watkins Glen International, site of Sunday's Cheez-It 355, the second and final road-course race of the season.

Check out the final two laps of the 2012 Watkins Glen race, where Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Marcos Ambrose put on a finish for the ages. You want fast and furious? Road courses serve it up. Watch and enjoy.
