Sprint Cup qualifying for Chase elimination race at Dover rained out

Mother Nature has struck again, this time at Dover International Speedway, where qualifying for Sunday's Citizen Soldier 400 was rained out Friday afternoon.

As a result, the field for the final race of the opening round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup will be set per the NASCAR rule book. That puts points leader Brad Keselowski on the pole in the No. 2 Team Penske Ford.

Martin Truex Jr. will start on the outside of Row 1 in the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota.

Occupying Row 2 will be the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas of Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth, with Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick on on Row 3.

If the rain holds off -- and the forecast does not look good -- there will be a pair of practices Saturday, the first at 10:30 a.m., with Happy Hour at 1:30 p.m.

The Citizen Soldier 400 is the third and final race of the opening round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. After Sunday's race concludes, the Chase grid will be cut from 16 to 12 drivers.

The weather forecast for Sunday's race looks clear.
