NASCAR: Carl Edwards Rain Dances To Win In Texas, Clinches Spot In Final Four

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series put in a full days worth on Sunday as a race that was supposed to start around 2:00 PM ET did not start until after 7:30 PM ET because of rain. It was the same rain that came late and put Carl Edwards in the final four in Miami.

Late in the race it looked like Martin Truex Jr. was the driver to beat. Joey Logano dominated early only to fall behind late. Carl Edwards tried his best to keep up with Truex Jr. but wasn’t able to do so until a late caution. One the pit stops with the caution the No. 19 team was able to get Edwards off of pit road ahead of Truex Jr. and then the rains came.

After taking more than five hours to dry the track earlier today, NASCAR was not going to wait out the rain and go through all of that again. Shortly after sending the cars to pit road because of the rain, NASCAR called the race which gave Edwards the win and new championship life in the Chase.

Coming into Texas Edwards was more than 30 points on the outside of the Chase looking in. Coming out of Texas Edwards will run for a title in Miami and the rest of his JGR teammates might not be there with him.
