Lawsuit could halt 1st practice for Dragon Racing

Dragon Racing's legal battle with engine manufacturer Lotus may keep the team off the track Thursday at Indianapolis.

As rookie orientation opened, neither of the team's two cars appeared in Gasoline Alley. Team spokesman Paul Woolnough says he cannot comment on the team's plans for Thursday. Series officials say they also are unclear about the team's plans.

Jay Penske's team fields cars for Sebastien Bourdais and Indy rookie Katherine Legge, who would have been allowed to drive Thursday with the other seven rookies hoping to qualify for this year's Indianapolis 500.

Penske filed suit against Lotus last Friday for $4.6 million. He accuses the engine-manufacturer of damaging the team's reputation.

Lotus' season-long struggles have prompted all but one of its original teams to change engines for this year's 500.
