Kyle Larson's Darlington throwback paint scheme has IndyCar ties
Chip Ganassi Racing has unveiled Kyle Larson's throwback paint scheme for the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Larson's No. 42 Chevrolet pays tribute to Target's start in auto racing when Eddie Cheever ran this car for CGR during the sponsor's first IndyCar Series season in 1990.
The car was unveiled Tuesday on social media.
Making his 100th career Sprint Cup start in the Southern 500, Larson pointed out he'll be running a paint scheme that is actually three years older than him.
This paint scheme is 3 years older than me! Throwing it back to @Target's first-ever racecar for @TooToughToTame. pic.twitter.com/jpa83GLvGA
