Kyle Busch wins the pole for Saturday's NNS race at Indy

 

Kyle Busch won the pole for this afternoon's Lilly Diabetes NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, turning a lap of 179.888 miles per hour to edge his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth, who ran 178.912 mph.

 

 

Qualifying third was Ty Dillon's Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet ahead of Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott. Joey Logano was sixth.

 

 

Despite early morning rains, the weather has improved at the historic 2.5-mile track, with the race still scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. ET.

 

 

With 18 races in the books, Chase Elliott leads the NNS point standings by seven over his JR Motorsports teammate Regan Smith and 8 over Elliott Sadler.
