Jimmie Johnson crashes early in Quaker State 400 at Kentucky

It was a short night for six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie  Johnson in Saturday night's Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.

Johnson crashed in practice Friday and had to go to a backup No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet for the race.

And a short race it was before Johnson crashed again.

On Lap 33, just after a restart from a scheduled competition caution, Johnson lost the handle on the slick Kentucky pavement and hit the wall harder than he did the day before.

That forced him to take the No. 48 behind the wall and sent his crew scurrying to make repairs to his heavily damaged Chevrolet.
