Ickler lands Roush N'wide ride

Brian Ickler will drive the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway next weekend.

Ickler is testing with RFR on Tuesday with the roll out of the new car in the Nationwide Series. He will share testing duties in the Mustang with Colin Braun, who started the season driving the No. 16 car but has switched to a part-time schedule in recent weeks after poor performances.

“We are excited about having Brian join the Roush Fenway Team, and participate in the No. 16 program along with Colin Braun who, as scheduled, will continue to drive the No. 16 car with Con-way Freight and 3M in 14 more races this year,” said team owner Jack Roush in a press release.

“Of course, Brian is already highly regarded as a young talent, which is why we are giving him the opportunity at Charlotte. As we do with each of our young drivers, we’ll continue to evaluate Brian as he participates in our program and assess what’s the best path to take for our team, our sponsors and Brian.”

Ickler, 24, is currently driving a limited schedule for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series. He finished third at Martinsville and fourth at Kansas in the No. 18 Tundra. He competed in two Nationwide Series races for Braun Racing last season but made his mark in the K&N Pro Series where he won three races in 2007 in the West Series and three race in 2008 on the East Tour.
