From one 'American Bad Ass' to another, Kid Rock on Tony Stewart
In honor of Tony Stewart’s final Sprint Cup Series race today at Homestead-Miami Speedway, “NASCAR RaceDay” has put together an exceptional video, narrated by none other than popular musician Kid Rock, commemorating Stewart’s exceptional career.
Stewart, 45 and a three-time NASCAR Premier Series champion, announced prior to this season that he would retire as a Sprint Cup driver at its conclusion.
Kid Rock talked about his long-time friendship with Stewart prior to the running of the 2015 Daytona 500, when he also held a pre-race concert.
“The first guy I’ve been friends with (in NASCAR) is Tony Stewart. I mean, for years and years,” Kid Rock told FOX Sports then. “I happened to wear his Home Depot coat on a VH1 show years ago – and then he popped up at one of my shows and we became friends.
“Through him I became friends with Dale (Earnhardt Jr.), Kevin (Harvick) and Jimmie (Johnson). I’ve even weaseled a couple rings out of them over the years – a couple out of Jimmie and a couple out of Tony. It’s been great getting to know those guys and following their careers.”
From one “American Bad Ass” to another, Kid Rock and Stewart have remained tight through the years, with the award-winning artist attending several races and even performing one year at the NASCAR post-season Awards Ceremony in 2011 after Stewart claimed his third and final Cup championship.
Thanks to Kid Rock for doing his own exceptional job narrating the cool video you can watch in its entirety on "NASCAR RaceDay" at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Check out below for a sneak peak preview of what is only a small portion of the content in the video.
