Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives Martin Truex Jr. hood from car driven in 2003
Martin Truex Jr. received a cool gift from friend and former team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.
On May 2, 2003 at Richmond International Speedway, Truex made his first career start in the No. 81 Chevrolet in what is now the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Chance 2 Motorsports, an organization owned by Earnhardt.
Truex finished 31st in the race, but he went on score two championships and 12 wins for the team during it’s three-year existence.
On Tuesday, Truex tweeted out a picture that featured him posing with a hood Earnhardt gave him off of the Richmond car.
Thanks to my buddy @DaleJr for the hood off the first car I drove for him! Richmond 03! Great addition @MTJ78Store pic.twitter.com/mZRwZxCN1v
