Cubs' World Series victory eases pain for Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kurt Busch

While Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway did not go the way Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. or Kurt Busch would have liked, their day at least ended on a positive note.

The three rushed from Martinsville, Virginia to Chicago -- more than 700 miles one-way -- to attend Sunday night's Game 5 of the World Series between their beloved Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians.

That they made it in time for the first pitch was enough of an event to celebrate.

The fact that the Cubs went on to win, 3-2, to force a Game 6 in Cleveland Tuesday evening (television coverage begins on FOX Sports at 7 p.m. ET), only made it better. At the very least, it eased the pain of the trio's poor finishes in the Goody's Fast Relief 500 earlier in the day at Martinsville, where Kurt Busch finished 22nd, Patrick finished 24th, and Stenhouse Jr. was the first car out of the race after crashing early and finished last in the 40-car field.

Don't count Busch out for attending Game 6 in Cleveland, as he attended Game 2 there earlier in the World Series with his mother. But if he's not there, it's pretty obvious he will be keeping track of the action on FOX, which he also noted he has been enjoying when he can't actually get to the games in person.
