Complete results from Thursday's Sprint Cup practice at Texas
It’s an unusual schedule this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, where the first round of practice for Saturday night’s Duck Commander 500 (FOX, 7:30 p.m. ET) took place late Thursday afternoon.
And as expected, speeds were fast at the 1.5-mile TMS oval. And when the 85-minute session was over, Martin Truex Jr. was fastest, his No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota turning a best lap of 192.892 miles per hour.
Team Penske was next on the speed charts, with Brad Keselowski clocking in second at 192.164 mph, with Joey Logano a very close third at 192.1543 mph.
Fourth was the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Austin Dillon, who is having the best year of his career, followed by a resurgent Brian Vickers and Jimmie Johnson.
Cup qualifying takes place Friday at 2:45 p.m. ET, with the final Happy Hour round of practice at 6:30 p.m. ET. Both will be televised on FS1.
