Carl Edwards declines offer to drive No. 43 while Aric Almirola recovers
Although Richard Petty Motorsports has not yet announced a replacement for the injured Aric Almirola or an update on his condition, we do know one driver who won't be behind the wheel if a substitute is necessary.
Monday evening on "NASCAR Race Hub," reporter Alan Cavanna confirmed that RPM reached out to former Joe Gibbs Racing driver Carl Edwards about possibly replacing Almirola while he recovers from a compression fracture of his T5 vertebra after a violent crash in Saturday night's race at Kansas Speedway.
Edwards respectfully declined the organization's offer.
