Actor Keanu Reeves to star in movie ‘Rally Car’ with NASCAR twist
Thursday on the first day of the Berlin Movie Festival, Lionsgate acquired U.S. distribution rights for the movie "Rally Car," which will star actor Keanu Reeves.
The premise of the movie includes Reeves portraying a fictional, self-centered NASCAR driver who revitalizes his career by entering an international rally car race across China, joining a team which includes a young Chinese woman whose dream is to become a driver.
The film will shoot in China, as well as the U.S.
Although the movie has a NASCAR tie-in, Reeves’ character is the extent of focus on the sport itself.
Lucky Logan, another NASCAR-related film that will have more of a focus on the sport, will be released October 2017, which depicts a heist that takes place at Charlotte Motor Speedway during a NASCAR race.
Production of the movie took place at Charlotte during the Bank of America 500 in October of 2016.
The film will include cameos from Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson.
