Williams team lands new technical partnership ahead of Hungarian GP

The Williams Martini Racing team has landed a new technical partnership with Thales cybersecurity solutions ahead of the Hungarian GP.

These systems enable telemetry and other critical information to be sent to both Williams Martini Racing and Williams Advanced Engineering while protecting the data from others.

In the high-pace world of Formula One, protecting such information is of utmost importance in order for teams to remain ahead of the competition. Partnering with Thales, a company that has 62,000 employees - including 22,000 engineers and researchers - in 56 countries, and that reported sales of $14 billion in 2015, Williams should feel confident about its data heading into the upcoming races.

"Williams has undergone a significant digital transformation over the past two years," says Claire Williams, the Deputy Team Principal and Commercial Director at Williams Martini Racing. "We are revolutionizing our IT infrastructure to make sure that we are well placed to continue innovating. With the help of Thales, we will be introducing cybersecurity systems that keep our business critical data secure wherever we are in the world."

"Thales is a world class cybersecurity expert and a globally recognized systems integrator, delivering safety and security critical systems in challenging environments such as Aerospace, Space, Defence, Finance, IT & Technology and Ground Transportation," says Marc Darmon, Executive Vice-President, Secure Communication and Information Systems, Thales. "This agreement builds on the already strong existing relationship between our two companies and our combined skills and expertise. It clearly illustrates Thales's commitment to accompany its clients in their digital transformation where cybersecurity is a vital requirement."

Williams Martini Racing sits fourth in the constructor standings heading into this weekend's Hungarian GP.
