Will Power takes his first win of the season at Indianapolis

Will Power has finally taken his first win of 2017 five rounds into the season.

The Team Penske driver has had some strong performances so far this year but has yet to be able to seal the deal in his No. 12 Chevrolet. Finally, on Saturday, Power crossed the line in first place at the IndyCar Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Power started on pole and traded the lead back and forth with his teammate Helio Castroneves during the first two rounds of stops.

After the third and final round of stops, however, Power pulled away from Castroneves who ended up losing positions to Scott Dixon, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Simon Pagenaud during the final stint.

Josef Newgarden had ran in fourth behind Power, Castroneves and Dixon throughout most of the race but then was speeding in the pits during his final stop. Newgarden had to serve a drive-through penalty, and sped during that too and had to serve another, which he also sped during and so he had to serve a third.

All four of the Team Penske cars finished in the top 10, with Juan Pablo Montoya placing 10th on his return.

The race was ran caution-free, with just Charlie Kimball and Sebastien Bourdais retiring with mechanical failures. Tony Kanaan finished two laps down after being hit by Marco Andretti on Lap 1. Andretti was penalized and had to serve a drive-through penalty.
