Twenty-four hours: Watch Guinness Record get broken at Victory Lane Karting

Trey Shannon turned 1,459 laps in a 24-hour period around Victory Lane Indoor Karting’s circuit in Charlotte, N.C. last November, as seen in this video uploaded to Facebook on Monday.

In doing so, he logged 455.827 miles, breaking the Guinness World Record for distance travelled by a single driver in an indoor circuit in a 24-hour period.

The record had formerly been held by Ryan Dyer, who logged 424.14 miles at Maine Indoor Karting in Scarborough, Maine last May.

Though Shannon was not in the kart for the full 24 hours, the way in which he doesn’t even try to get up when emerging from the kart shows how grueling the event was.

Shannon was also racing for charity, raising “funds and awareness for the National Tourette Syndrome Association.”

It will be interesting to see if the next attempt ends up breaking the 500-mile marker.
