TUDOR Championship: Rain washes out qualifying at Watkins Glen

Qualifying for Sunday's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen has been canceled due to rain, leaving the grid for the sixth round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship set by drivers points.

Rain descended upon the 3.4-mile, 11-turn circuit in upstate New York on Saturday morning, with heavy showers forcing the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race to end under caution after a late-race red flag for inclement weather.

With conditions not improving, IMSA elected to scrub qualifying, opting not to turn the track time into an additional practice session.

As a result, the championship-leading No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi will start from pole on Sunday.

The pair are tied on points with VisitFlorida.com's Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante, and both have one victory this season, but the No. 5 Corvette has one additional second-place finish.

The No. 31 Action Express entry of Dane Cameron and Eric Curran, coming off victory in the last round at Detroit, will start third overall and in class.

Michael Shank Racing's Ligier JS P2 Honda, which topped the time charts in all three practice sessions this weekend with Ozz Negri at the wheel, will roll off from fifth on the grid.

The No. 54 CORE autosport Oreca FLM09 of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett and James Gue will start from the pole in Prototype Challenge, thanks to their slim five-point lead over PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports in class.

Corvette Racing's Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia (GT Le Mans) and the Paul Miller Racing Audi R8 LMS of Christopher Haase, Dion von Moltke and Bryce Miller (GT Daytona) will start from pole in their respective classes.

A 20-minute warmup is scheduled for Sunday morning, with the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen taking the green at 10:10 a.m. ET.

Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow as well, although the race will likely run rain or shine.
