Teams confirm both drivers in Lime Rock crash sustained injuries

Jorge De La Torre has sustained multiple injuries, including a number of fractures and bruising from Saturday’s Pirelli World Challenge accident at Lime Rock Park, according to Aston Martin Racing.

The British manufacturer released details of the 25-year-old’s condition late Saturday. De La Torre’s Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 was involved in the accident with Andrew Palmer in warmup, which resulted in both drivers being air lifted to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries.

“Unfortunately Jorge has sustained various injuries, including a number of fractures and bruising to the torso,” the statement read. “He will remain in hospital where he will be closely monitored by the medical team.

“Our thoughts are with Jorge, Andrew and the Bentley team.”

Bentley, meanwhile, confirmed Palmer has sustained a head injury in the accident, with no further details released on condition of the 21-year-old.

PWC released a statement on Saturday evening confirming both drivers would be kept overnight at the hospital, with no other details disclosed.
