Sir Frank Williams released from hospital after bout with pneumonia

Sir Frank Williams, founder of the Williams F1 team, has been released from hospital after a recent bout with pneumonia.

Williams’ daughter, deputy team principal Claire Williams, informed the media on Thursday that the 74-year-old was back home and had also been back to the team’s factory in Grove. The announcement was made as Williams Martini Racing was confirming its driver lineup for the 2017 season.

Williams was released from hospital on Monday. He had been admitted shortly after contracting pneumonia during the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in early September.

"It was a slow recovery,” admitted Claire, “but I am really pleased to say that he is pretty much back to the old Frank that we know and love, so it is lovely to have him back with us at the team."
