Rojas crashes No. 01 Ganassi entry on recon lap at CTMP

There's been drama in the build up to this afternoon's Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, as the Chip Gansssi Racing Riley-Ford has suffered a major setback in today's race due to an accident on the reconnoissance lap.

Memo Rojas was at the wheel of the No. 01 Telmex-sponsored DP when he lost control in Turn 2 on a damp circuit and made heavy impact with the barriers.

The Mexican driver was evaluated and released from the infield medical center but the car sustained considerable damage to the front, rear and left side.

The accident comes as a big hit to Rojas and co-driver Scott Pruett's championship chase, as the duo currently sits 5th in the title chase, 18 points behind championship leaders Ricky and Jordan Taylor.

The team is working to rebuild the car and it could score points should it join the race within the first 60 minutes and each driver complete the minimum 20-minute drive time requirement.
