Rally Australia hosts final round of 2016 World Championship

COFFS HARBOUR, Australia (AP) Rally Australia will host the final round of the 2016 World Rally Championship from Nov. 17-20 next year.

Australian officials said in a statement Wednesday that the season-ending event will be held at Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales state north coast for the fifth time.

France's Sebastien Ogier clinched his third world rally title in a row after winning this year's Rally Australia for the third consecutive year.

Rally Australia said the 2016 calendar includes 14 rounds - one more than in recent seasons and including China for the first time since 1999.

Australia's previous September slot was awarded to Rally China, in the Huairou district near Beijing. It is scheduled from Sept. 9-11, pending formal contract signings.

The season opens in Monte Carlo from Jan. 22-24.
