Presenting the first wrecked Dodge Challenger Hellcat

If you keep up with automotive news, you’ve probably heard of the 707-horsepower 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

Perhaps you saw the video of the all-American red, white and blue Hellcat burnout or watched one sell for $825K at Barrett-Jackson?

Good news: These beasts are now on the road!

Bad news: We’ve already lost one of them. Last weekend, the state of Colorado received its first Hellcat. Here’s a picture of it:

Perhaps 707 horsepower is more than this driver expected, especially considering that the purchase reportedly took place just one hour prior. Here’s the official statement from the Colorado State Patrol:

“The 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat driver, 34-year-old Lance Utley of Winter Park, CO, was traveling northbound on Riverdale Rd. The driver lost control to the right, then overcorrected and lost control to the left, and struck a tree head on. There were two additional occupants in the vehicle. The driver was charged with careless driving. Drugs or alcohol were not involved. There was no mention of excessive speeding. All three occupants were unhurt.”
