James Hinchcliffe Meets 'DWTS' Partner Sharna Burgess
James Hinchcliffe will make his ‘Dancing with the Stars’ debut tomorrow, but first find out what happened when he met his ‘DWTS’ pro partner Sharna Burgess.
Tomorrow IndyCar star James Hinchcliffe will trade in the racetrack for the dance floor in Season 23 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. But Hinch has been practicing for weeks, and met his DWTS partner Sharna Burgess for the first time when the league went to Texas.
With Hinchcliffe at Texas Motor Speedway to finish the weather-delayed Firestone 600, his professional counterpart Burgess traveled to the track in order to meet The Mayor in his native environment.
IndyCar captured Burgess’s visit to TMS and posted the video to YouTube on Friday as part of its push to publicize Hinchcliffe’s appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
Fans can watch the 33-year-old Australian dancer sneaking her way into the IndyCar paddock, before hearing a few words from Hinch about his first impression of her and what he expects from his foray into reality TV.

Hinchcliffe and Burgess have their work cut out for them on Dancing with the Stars. As Hinchcliffe points out for not the first time in the video, the last IndyCar driver to take part in the celebrity dance competition was Helio Castroneves, who won his season and was then invited back to be part of a later All-Stars cycle.
Burgess’s best finish on the show was as runner-up in Season 21 when she was paired with Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter; the last time she worked with an athlete was last season, when she and Pittsburgh Steelers player Antonio Brown came in fourth.
As for Hinchcliffe he’s freely admitted that he can’t dance and the entertainment world has reacted accordingly. A Las Vegas-based online betting site has already begun taking odds on the upcoming season, and Hinchcliffe is nowhere near the favorite to win. That honor goes to Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez as she partners with Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy.
Find out how Hinchcliffe and Burgess match together when Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars premieres tomorrow. The other athletes included in the cast are Hernandez, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and recently retired Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
IndyCar fans will be able to vote for Hinchcliffe and Burgess on the series by calling their assigned phone number after the broadcast each Monday, visiting the show’s official website on ABC.com, or casting their vote via Facebook.
Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
