Defending Champion Scott Dixon Takes 'IndyCar Test Drive'
Just as his successor is about to be named, reigning IndyCar champion Scott Dixon took the league’s “Test Drive” trivia challenge and scored off track, too.
Defending IndyCar champion Scott Dixon is known as a smart driver, but how brainy is he when it comes to racing trivia? Fans found out as Dixon was the next person up to undergo “IndyCar Test Drive.”
On Saturday – just one day before fans are about to find out whether it’ll be Simon Pagenaud or Will Power succeeding Dixon as the next league titleholder – IndyCar invited Dixon to take its trivia challenge, and the driver nicknamed “The Iceman” proved that he’s got as much of a knack for racing information as he does for actually getting behind the wheel.
Watch Scott Dixon’s “IndyCar Test Drive” video below:
There’s some room for improvement from the driver of the No. 9 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, but he’s pretty close on some of the answers that he missed. And you have to give Dixon credit for remembering to mention himself when he gets to the speed rounds, which has taken some of his colleagues a bit to figure out.
Overall for someone who’s one of the longest-tenured drivers in IndyCar he knows a lot of his stuff, and the things he doesn’t know he’s at least in the ballpark of. That’s what you’d expect from a guy who has four IndyCar championships and is also an Indianapolis 500 winner. If he didn’t know some of his career accomplishments it’d be weird.
And having the defending champion be the featured video on the weekend a new champion is named is a nice touch from the league.

Dixon’s score of 32 points is good enough for second place, behind only Ed Carpenter (34 points) for the top spot on the “Test Drive” leaderboard. With the IndyCar season ending on Sunday it’s not known if his will be the last challenge or if other drivers will be participating in the next few weeks, but either way Dixon can certainly be proud of his score.
After all, he finished six points ahead of Power and a whopping 14 ahead of Pagenaud.
