Dallas Corvette Club delivers surprise to 76-year-old scam victim

A parade of Chevrolet Corvettes appeared on Ola Donalson’s street in East Oak Cliff, Texas, on Saturday after members had learned of her story on the news.

Donalson had been conned out of nearly $1,000 at the start of the month when a woman, wearing scrubs, arrived at her door, claiming to have known her doctor.

Donalson, a 76-year-old widow who lives off a partial pension payment from her late husband and social security, is usually cautious about allowing others into her house, but said this woman seemed to know a lot about her. The woman saw Donalson’s walker and said it wasn’t up to date. As Donalson went to get her visitor a flashlight, the woman found her wallet and took $45 in cash and around $900 in money orders, all of which Donalson needed to pay her rent and bills for the month.

Fox 4 learned of the story and put together a video report (at bottom of article) which was seen by members of the Unique Corvette Club of Dallas.

Club members arrived at Donalson’s house on Saturday with cash and prayers, reports Fox 4.

Members of the Corvette Club haven’t been the only ones helping out Donalson, as a GoFundMe account for her has raised nearly $8,000 in its first six days.

Police are still investigating the scam and have not made any arrests, reports Fox 4.
