Another historic Ferrari looks to reset the auction record

Ferraris are beautiful cars, and a lot of people would not mind paying a pretty penny in return for a Prancing Horse.

However, some historic Ferraris -- as of recent auctions -- have been going for ridiculous amounts of money. Just a handfull of examples from the past few years include:

Now, the latest set to join the club looks to be a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti, which will head to auction in Paris during the Artcurial Motorcars Auction on Feb. 5.

Estimates put the car at around $30-$34 million, and when you take a look at the car’s history you begin to understand why:

The Ferrari, chassis No. 0674, was initially a 315 S featuring a 360-horsepower, 3.8-liter V12 engine and a Scaglietti body. After finishing sixth at the Sebring 12 Hours and second in the Mille Miglia, it was upgraded to a 335 S spec with a 400-horsepower, 4.1-liter engine. It then went to Le Mans where it broke the lap record in the hands of Mike Hawthorn. Afterward, it continued to compete in various high-prestige races until it was sold to an architect in 1960. Since 1970, it had remained as part of Pierre Bardinon’s collection.
