United acquires McDonald from San Jose

D.C. United have acquired defender Brandon McDonald from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money.

The 25-year-old McDonald started 54 games over 2 1/2 seasons with the Earthquakes. He has played in 11 games this season, included eight starts.

McDonald was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2008.
