Source: Olsen hired to remain coach of DC United
A person familiar with the decision says Ben Olsen has been hired to remain coach of D.C. United.
Olsen keeps the job after serving the last 2 1/2 months of the season as interim head coach, the person told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has scheduled a news conference for Monday to make the formal announcement.
United fired Curt Onalfo on Aug. 4 as the team slumped through its worst season in franchise history.
Olsen, an assistant coach and former U.S. national team player, was promoted and went 3-8-1. United finished with a 6-20-4 record, the worst in MLS.
