Hyndman of FC Dallas named MLS coach of year

FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman has been picked as the Major League Soccer coach of the year.

MLS announced the honor Thursday. Hyndman led FC Dallas to a 19-game unbeaten streak and the team's first postseason berth since 2007.

FC Dallas finished the season 12-4-14. On Sunday, the team plays the Los Angeles Galaxy in the Western Conference championship.

Hyndman coached at SMU for 24 years before joining FC Dallas as coach in mid-2008.
