World Series Game 2 starting time moved up to 7:08 p.m. ET
Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday the start time for Game 2 of the World Series would be moved up an hour.
The first pitch on FOX will be at 7:08 p.m. ET Wednesday, as wet weather is expected in Cleveland. Pregame will begin on FS1 at 6 p.m. and then shift over to FOX at the bottom of the hour.
The Cleveland Indians will be looking to take a 2-0 lead over the Chicago Cubs in the series after winning Game 1 on Tuesday, 6-0.
The forecast via weather.com:
While Game 1 was dry, there is a threat of light rain for Game 2 on Wednesday night. Due to this potential, Major League Baseball has decided to move the game ahead an hour with first pitch now scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EDT, as the rain is expected to get heavier later Wednesday night.
Weather.com also pitched in with an interesting note:
The only World Series game in league history to be suspended due to rain was Game 5 of the 2008 World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies, when the combination of rain and wind in Philadelphia forced the Oct. 27 game to be completed two days later.
Coincidentally, current Cubs manager Joe Maddon was skipper of the Rays in that series eight years ago.
The forecast for the remainder of the World Series looks favorable, with above average temperatures expected in Chicago for Games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) before the series would return to Cleveland for Games 6 and 7 if necessary.
